Pixel Qi 10.1" display Review

1024x600 pixel resolution, 117.51 PPI(pixels per inch) with the 10.1" screen size in that resolution.

I bought this screen and put it in the recommended Lenovo S10-2 netbook with no problems. All it took was a basic screwdriver, removing the cable that was plugged in to the computer, putting the new screen in, hook up cable, put screws back in. Very easy.

The reason I bought the screen was, I need something to reduce eye strain. The company says that this screen works in direct sunlight, and under lights in the room. It can be rather dark if the room is dark. I would recommend at least a 60 watt incandescent light to shine directly on it, a bit above the head.

If anyone has read this website:[...] the problems this guy was having with his eyes seem to be just the same as mine. I used to wear glasses, and needed some thicker ones. I found some eye exersize guides on the internet and practiced them every day for about a month until I made it a habit. I'm no longer near sighted and have perfect vision. I still get the side effects of the flickering monitors though. This screen, with the backlight off, is good for non-color uses like internet chat, skype, ventrilo, word processor, pdf reading, scripture reading and studying with strongs etc., book reading (kindle, etc.) and so on. MP3's... It will play even youtube videos at full speed, however on the Lenovo S10-2 netbook, it is a bit slow for anything other than 360p, if the flv is downloaded, a 480 will play at full speed.

So, I spent a good $550 or so between the netbook and the screen, but I think it is worth it if I stop using the main computer for games. I wish the company would make a 19" to 23" screen with the backlight off. I would adjust lighting however needed if they would do that. Maybe I will try the other guy's idea and pull the backlight out of my current 23" screen and stick a real light behind it that doesn't flicker.

As for how much I use it personally, not as much as the desktop. I grew up kind of glued to electronics and am trying to get away from them. There are better things to do than be on the computer all day. I would definitely buy a bigger screen by pixel qi if they made one, but I would recommend this to anyone who thinks they will use a 10.1" netbook for basic needs without eyestrain/headaches/etc.
