For either novices or seasoned WiFi networking folks, the web configuration UI really is either slow, inadequate or buried under counter-intuitive screens. I highly recommend folks open the PDF manual documentation that accompanies the unit either on the CDROM disc or download from the internet and go methodically through the Wizard initially. I jumped right in and got the unit up, but to setup special security where I wanted an AP mode but to bridge without WAN turned on, with delegated DHCP to another router master on the LAN, it took some sleuthing (I had to turn NAT off explicitly -which it should be by default on the LAN - to enable DHCP passthru). While I'm not a stickler for MAC address filtering with WPA security, some folks might demand it, and it's cumbersome to setup because you need to enable "Parental Controls" and create a new Policy and enable MAC filtering on it. Without visibility on how the device excludes MACs in the filter tables, I guess I can't be really sure that filtering algorithms work. However, the device has some good error checking. I won't let you set WAN and LAN ports to colliding subnets or the WAN port to a non-routable address which is a good thing for some. I bought this device mostly because of the detachable antenna and so I could mount a 9 dBi omni on the outside of my house to it, through the wall, and thus increase range and sensitivity for all mobile devices. This replaced a Dlink unit for about the same cost that I found out didn't have a detachable antenna, and now I'm able to get clean signal and even do system backups from remote nodes on my network without much issue. For the price, it was a good buy. I'd recommend it for basic AP use and if you want to add a single booster antenna to your unit for better signal. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Engenius Xtrarange High-Power Wireless 150N Router (ESR150H)" are high quality item.
