I was a little skeptical about buying this switch since I could find no reviews for this model at all. I did find many reviews for other Trendnet models but I found a good deal on this model and it met my requirements. I upgraded to this switch from an older 24 port 10/100 switch I had bought on ebay for $25. Plugging my old switch into an energy monitor it registerd an annual cost to run as $71.00. I opened the box on the TrensNet switch and just plugged it in. Silence! the old switch had a noisy cooling fan this had no noise at all. After running the Trendnet switch on the energy monitor I am now registering annual cost to run at $4.50 - that will pay for this switch quickly over time. (NOTE: only 1 computer and 1 NAS run constant on the switch. 2 other computers sporatically run on the switch. I have the 16 port switch so each room in the house can have a dedicated network connection)I tested my network connections and everything worked fine. I attempted to test my network speed through the switch and found that I only have one device on the network that has a gigabit network card. Though my throughput was registering at 93 mbps through this switch. I do not have comparable network speed through the old Switch.
Other reviews for switches listed heat as a result of running a TrendNet switch. I have checked for heat and it does not get warm to the touch (the metal is not cool, just not excessivly warm).
CON: the only issue I found was that the RJ-45 ports are tightly packed together and some of my store bought patch cords have thick plastic sleeves that cover the end of the network cable and they cannot have 2 of these type patch cords in adjacent ports. I did not deduct any points for this.
