I must admit, I was somewhat skeptical of a machine that made noise and purported to help me sleep better. Seems counter-intuitive. I've now had my Sound+Sleep Nomad for about 8 months, and a recent problem made me realize just how important this little device is to a restful night's sleep. Last week, I moved the Nomad on my nightstand, and the power cord fell out. When I tried to plug it back in, I realized that the metal receptacle in the device had broken. Not only did I sleep poorly that night, but the absence of the adaptive sound meant that my snoring was no longer masked and my wife had a less than restful night as well. I anticipated the usual hassle (a sad testament to the decline of customer service and US business practices) and was pleasantly surprised when I called the support number. I was told that the unit would work on batteries and that a new Nomad would be sent immediately with a return label to send back the defective one. As promised, the replacement arrived in 2 days, and the battery operation meant only one night without my Nomad. Once skeptical, I'm now addicted to the Nomad and take it with me wherever we go. I'm one of those guys that used to start thinking of all the projects I'm doing and lie awake for hours. No more, thank to my Nomad. p.s. The rain sound is my favorite.
