I have 3 computers, 1 Gateway FX desktop and 2 Dell Precision laptops, all running Windows 7 64 Bit. Over the past 6 months, I bought 3 OCZ SSD's. I replaced the primary boot drive on all three computers with OCZ SSD to get better performance. The performance increase, especially in boot time, is easily double if not more of what my previous 7200 RPM hard disks. I ran into my first problem with my OCZ Agility 2 120 GB in my oldest laptop, the Dell Precision M4300, when a week ago the computer reported "drive not found" upon boot. Well after less than 6 months of very light use, this drive is dead.

At least I got a few months of use out of this product; some people experienced OCZ disks DOA and others failed in the first week. I rated this product 2 of 5 stars because for the first few months, it rocked. I purchased OCZ over other brands because of the excellent bang for the buck, price/value ratio. SSD (solid state drives) are expensive and are at least 5 to 10 times more expensive than HDD (hard disk drives) when looking at dollar per GB, but the speed breathes new life into older hardware. So be warned.

Since then, I have dug up my original hard drive and reinstalled it, and after hours of Window Updates, I'm back up and running. But boy is it slow. I do miss the SSD in my Dell Precision M4300. Since this is only a backup laptop, I'm not running out to replace it with an SSD since the old HDD is working fine. Word to the wise, make sure you have a good backup system for any important files before you rely on OCZ SSD.
