HP Mini 5102 10.1-Inch Netbook Review

For what it is, the HP 5102 is a fantastic travel friendly computer. It does not stream video well, its not going to be fast with any complex applications, but it has a fantastic keyboard, netbook or otherwise, best in class build quality (metal composite NOT plastic) a nice bright screen, and good speakers. Great for web browsing and typing/word processing. It has USB connectivity as well as an SD multi slot.

Fantastic, light, well built, and simply an efficient little machine.

(something to note is that this particular model from amazon comes with the smaller battery and battery life is considerably shorter than some other netbooks in this class. You can upgrade and buy the high capacity battery separately from HP)

Powercom 1500VA Black Knight Series U.P.S. Backup System Review

I'm writing about a slightly different model than this BNT-1500AP.

Mine is a slightly smaller and older unit, the BNT-1000AP. I've had it for 7 years, with absolutely no problems. It died recently, and so today I went to the Powercom website in the hopes of finding some repair info.

I decided to write this as a way of recognizing the great support I received from Joe Skelley. He answered my email within 15 minutes, and each email that I wrote to him thereafter.

He told me that, although there is a notice on the unit's case that there are "no user serviceable parts" inside, there are, indeed, 2 batteries inside that I could replace. He sent me the battery type and offered any help I might need in doing a DIY repair. And he told me that the repair would, most likely, get my unit working in mint condition again.

Joe will probably never read this, but I just wanted to thank him and recognize Powercom as a company I would gladly do business with again.

Toshiba 15.6" Satellite C855D-S5232 Laptop Notebook PC Review

I purchased this as MY first laptop after having many PC's and netbooks, as well as Smartphones and Tablets. From Apple to Blackberry to Android sysytems. I have never felt the need to have a laptop being that almost everything I need to do can now be done on most tablets and smartphones. However this Laptop's Dual Core Processor is really fast and I also Love that it came with Windows 7 instead of Vista. The face recognition feature is really quite cool. It is a LOCK feature so if your laptop were to be stolen for example, instead of them hacking past your password they cannot duplicate a picture of your face & NO a PICTURE of YOU WILL NOT work. It has to be the real deal. So unless they steal you along with your latop & you have some SECRET AGENT, 007 SH** on your laptop. Without your face they are S.O.L. & your laughing all the way to the bank. I also installed Microsoft Word and MacFee full service for 2 years all for under $200.00 at my local Office Depot during their Labor Day sale. It has some great upgrades like your read write DVD Burner, smart card reader, long battery life and LCD Backlit Trubrite screen. It has 4 ports, ethernet jack ofcourse and also bluetooth compatiable. I can go on and on about all the fantastic features this basic laptop has. However for being your basic laptop it sure has a lot of extra bells and whistles on it! I would highly recommend this for your first college student or highschool. Or just for photo storing, skyping, your basic surfing needs are met and thensome! Only CON I have found is definatly need a skin if fingerprints bother you, as much as they do me. Other than that this is truly a steal for the cost!!!
